Are you excited to visit Meg K9 Dog Field and experience a day of off-leash fun and adventure with your dog/s? Before you go bounding into the open space, take a moment to familiarise yourself with the expectations and guidelines for visiting private use dog fields like Meg K9 in the UK.
Understanding and following these rules not only ensures a safe and enjoyable time for you and your dog but also keeps you in good books with the field owner.
1. Basics First – Read the Rules
Be a responsible visitor and read the rules and terms of use for the Meg K9 Dog Field before your visit. Familiarise yourself with the guidelines and follow them to maintain the integrity of the field and ensure everyone’s safety and happiness.
I have made it a mission to keep rules short yet concise, so it won’t take long to read them.
2. Control and Courtesy
When arriving at the dog field no more than 5 minutes before your slot, keep your dog/s under control and wait in your car in the car part NOT the paddock, until there are no other dogs around. This allows for a peaceful entry and minimises any potential conflicts among the dogs and owners for that matter.
3. Timings and Cleanup
Respect the scheduled time slots arriving on time or at least no earlier than 5 minutes and ensure you leave the field 5 minutes early, making it safe for the next visitors. Additionally, remember to carry waste bags to clean up after your dog and take all non-poop litter back home with you.
4. Water Supply
Meg K9 Dog Field provides fresh water for your dog/s. However, during extreme cold weather conditions, you might want to bring your own water supply to ensure your dog has a drink.
5. Respect the Field and Its’ Owner
Remember that in my case, the paddock is also my home. Show respect to both the field and its owner. Treat the field with care and adhere to any specific rules set by the owner.
6. Noise Management
While dogs may naturally make noise during play, be considerate of nearby neighbours and try not to encourage excessive barking or noise.
7. Parking Etiquette
Park your vehicle considerately and follow any parking guidelines set by the facility. Responsible parking ensures a smooth flow of traffic and allows everyone to access the field conveniently. This includes but is not limited to, not parking in the lay-by and not blocking gates.
8. Fence Consciousness
Appreciate the efforts and expenses that go into maintaining a secure dog field. Prevent your dog from damaging fences or attempting to squeeze through gaps in the fencing. X Fencing or Tornado Wire is hellish expensive, so treat it with respect.
9. Dog Theft Awareness
Stay vigilant and safeguard your dog against potential theft. Avoid leaving your dog unattended in the car and always keep an eye on them while inside the field.
10. Gate Security
Make it a habit to close all gates securely. An open gate poses risks to the safety of dogs and may cause them to wander into unsafe areas.
11. Health and Hazards
Though a professional dog walking area like Meg K9 Dog Field minimises hazards, stay cautious and mindful of any potential risks such as tripping, bee stings, or other injuries.
Always clean up after your own dog and clean up any mess that you see, this helps to keep the field clean for everyone. I have a dog that is partial to eating poo, not healthy whatsoever, so always clean up.
12. Vaccinations and Identification
While Meg K9 Dog Field may not require vaccinations to be able to book your dogs in, ensure your dog is vaccinated as a general precaution. Additionally, always have your dog wear a collar with identification.
13. Dogs and the Heat
Avoid excessive exercise during extreme heat. Provide fresh water and safe cooling methods for your dog’s comfort and well-being. We do not allow ball chuckers and toy throwing during extremes of heat.
14. Food and Toy Consideration
Be mindful not to drop food or leave broken toys lying around the field. This helps prevent potential harm or food allergies for dogs.
If you see something in the field that shouldn’t be there like a broken piece of a toy, a clump or hair or any litter, please pick it up and put it in the bin.
15. Follow Field-Specific Rules
Each dog field may have its own specific rules. Be proactive in researching and understanding the guidelines before your visit.
16. Children and Safety
If you are visiting Meg K9 Dog Field, please note that under 16’s are not allowed due to insurance reasons. Check the rules for the dog field you plan to visit regarding children.
